Sean Northrup
Sean Northrup was born in 1989 with a congenital heart defect
called Ventricular Invession with Pulmonary Aftrefia. Simply put, he was
born with his heart backwards and missing a valve. Sean needed immediate
surgery to repair the defect that accompanied this little boy's life-threatening
problem. Sean had five major open-heart surgeries before his was six years
old and each surgery required donated blood in order for him to live.
Sean's grandmother, Linda Adams, works at a local car dealership
and the owner gave permission for directed blood drives for Sean to be held
at her company's site. Sean's teachers, friends, and family regularly gave
blood to help Sean through his five surgeries.
Today Sean is a very active 11-year old who now lives in
northern Florida. He enjoys skateboarding, camping with the Boy Scouts, and
rafting. And even though Sean has some health problems (residual effects
from his many open-heart surgeries) it certainly has not stopped him from
pursuing all his favorite hobbies -- especially baseball. |
