Scholarship Assistance Program (SAF)
  • What should I do if I have lost my award letter?

    Please contact the SAF at 954-677-3985 or saf@cbcsf.org. Because no duplicate letters are created, your institute of higher learning will need to send the SAF verification of enrollment.

  • What are the requirements to apply for a scholarship?

    You must be graduating within the school year you are applying and have:
    • A minimum GPA of 2.0
    • A letter of recommendation from the blood drive faculty contact, teacher or principal
    • A completed official application (no fax copies)
    • The application must be received by the deadline listed on the web site to be considered

  • Do I have to donate blood in order to receive a scholarship?

    No.

  • If I apply, do I automatically receive a scholarhip?

    No.

  • How will I be notified if I receive a scholarship?

    You will receive a certified letter in the mail. The letter will contain instruction on how to claim your scholarship. Plese take good care of your letter, losing your letter may result in your scholarship payment being delayed.

  • Can you mail the money directly to me?

    No. Scholarship money is mailed directly to your institute of higher learning. No exceptions can be made to this rule

  • Do I have to use the money all at once?

    No. However, you must notify the SAF if you will not be using the full amount at one time.

  • How will I know when my school receives my scholarship money?

    It is incumbent upon you to follow up with your school to determine whether or not they have received the money. If there is a discrepancy, the SAF can provide all necessary information to resolve the problem.

  • Where can I use my scholarship?

    Scholarships may be used at any institute of higher learning. Some examples include but are not limited to: trade schools, technical schools, culinary schools, art schools, community colleges, colleges and universities. Scholarships may be used in state or out of state and by part time students.

  • How long do I have to use my scholarship?

    You may use the scholarship anytime within two calendar years from the date you receive the award letter. If the scholarship is not used within the two years, the monies will be returned to the respective school's account for the following year.
